The database group, led by Profs. Todd J. Green and Bertram Ludäscher, is a multi-disciplinary team that conducts fundamental and cutting-edge research in database systems and theory and in scientific data management.  Major current research topics include:
  • Collaborative data sharing
  • Data provenance
  • Scientific workflows
  • Scientific data integration and knowledge representation
We also conduct several cross-disciplinary research projects with faculty and students from a number of natural sciences (e.g., biology, genomics, particle physics etc.) and in multi-disciplinary domains such bioinformatics, ecoinformatics, geoinformatics, etc.


News

[September 2009] Todd J. Green joined the Department of Computer Science as a new faculty member in the area of databases.


[October 2008] Michael Gertz left UC Davis where he had founded Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) group. He  is now leading the database systems group at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.
